Hullo. Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but.

P99 is great for lots of reasons, especially because it doesn't change (much) of the original, and the OGs were great! Not to mention the seriousness of crackdown on multi-boxing, keeping the servers fair, etc.

All of these things are why P99 is so fun, plus the game itself, and thank you all for doing such a fine job.

I was hoping others would sign on to show that there would be <3 for continuing into a few more xpacs? I know I've talked to many folks that would love to see some of the additional content in the OG format p99 brings.

Thanks for listening. Cheers. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

This is kind of a misstatement. Boxing wasn't explicitly prohibited but if you boxed in certain ways we would issue warnings (was CSR in era). For example, using boxing to hold down a valuable camp and monopolize it when you otherwise wouldn't be able to do it on your own. If we got reports of that we would step in.

I played on tarew marr then it merged to drinal. I 2 boxed everything I could, in any camp, from kunark to underfoot. thats 15 expansions. I never had a boxing related GM interaction. When i was 15 my dad made me get a job to pay for the 8 monthly subs I had.

Verant wasn't stupid. Multi-boxing means more monthly subs, they encouraged this activity.

I did get a few accounts banned for using ghostkill though, now that was some good old classic bad behavior!

I'd argue that classic everquest died with LDoN. Gone were the day of going down into dungeons. After LDoN it was all randomly interconnected hallways with merchants selling gear for completion tokens. Everything before LDoN is classic.

This, although I feel like LDoN itself wasn't so bad, because the game still had enough "old EQ" at that point, and all that "interchangeability" hadn't taken over yet. Those five new instanced dungeons were interchangeable, but they were just a novel/fun way to get AAs in between PoP raids; they hadn't yet corrupted the whole game.

My personal dream server would go to LDoN and stop there. With AAs and augments people could work on their characters for a long time, but it would still fundamentally be the same original game and not that atrocity of mercenaries and such.

Once again Loramin comes through with an excellent thought

There is no debate that luclin is the downfall turning point of classic everquest.

My dream is a vanilla locked server with really subtle custom content added in later on to fill out some of the mysteriously go-nowhere quests in the game and thicken out the traditional norrath.

May as well go to GoD if you keep the server 1 box, solo. Player guilds could spread out and pick what content they want to do.
