Proof right here that there is NO MINIMUM WEAPON DELAY. Look at this sample of data from a Beastlord in 2004 using the Moss Covered Twig in offhand. Beastlords do not get the skill double attack. They only get a chance to with the AA Bestial Fury. With Bestial Fury 5 their chance to double attack is 20%. He has the Ambidexterity AA also but I am unsure on how much this increases dual wield percentage (Gonna assume 8%). With Ambidexterity and a capped dual wield skill the chance to dual wield would be 74%.
(DW skill + Level / 500) + 8% = Dual Wield chance (260 + 70 / 500) + 8% = 74% Double attack chance = 20% Offhand Calculations 249 swings in 140 seconds (249 * .20) = 49.8 Number of times Double attack fired 249 - 48.8 = 199.2 Swings WITHOUT double attack (199.2 * .26) + 199.2 = 250.992 Swings factoring in the times DUAL WIELD DID NOT FIRE 250.992 * .557786 = 139.999 In effect the delay on the Moss Covered Twig was 5.57786 Hell, you guys can even imagine he had the Moss Covered Twig in the main hand. Yikes, your calculations are FAR from scientific! So far that I don't trust your numbers at all, nor would any mathematician.
First, you're assuming that 74% of these attacks came from that weapon by using average percentages which you're basing on what you admit to be assumptions....so it's basically assumptions and averages, and on top of that the sample size is only 249 swings. On top of that even, you don't know how many of those swings were ripostes. Did the Beastlord have the double riposte AA? If so, his potential number of ripostes increase by 50%. There are so many unknown variables in those calculations that your margin of error is ridiculous. | ||

Well, you are assuming that a sample of only 250 is great enough to normalize the double-attack chance as well as dual-wield chance to the point where your calculations are dependable.
I'm not saying it discredits your evidence, but you are leaving yourself a pretty wide margin of error.

Therefore either the log shows both offhand and mainhand attacks, or your math is still wrong, which would indicate a delay of somewhere around 2-3. Again, as was stated nobody's discrediting the fact that you might be right about minimum delays (so stop attacking me like an angry little child), all that's being said is that your margin of error in your calculations is extremely high. Your margin of error is big enough that the 5.5 delay you came up with is too close to 8. We're literally talking about a quarter second difference here, and using client-side logging too, which makes lag a factor, and that small factor means something when you're talking tenths of a second. I have seen logs where my character was able to unleash upwards of 30-40 attacks in a two second period because of a lag spike followed by a flood of damage data, and such things have screwed my damage parses up quite a bit. The client-side log doesn't adjust for things like that. The fact is that with all of the variables present, including the potential of lag spikes fudging the data, a tiny window of 0.25 seconds is too small for your data to be conclusive. | |||

You're assuming that in 250 swings that the RNG normalized at 20%.
Random anything has the possibility of streaks, it's possible that in those 250 swings you actually had a 40% rate of double attacks which would mean your actual delay was much higher. You could also have had only a 10% rate of double attacks which would would result in a significantly lower calculated delay. You can't simply assume that because something has a 20% chance that it actually occurs every 5th time, it takes a very large sample set (in the thousands) before you can claim with a high level of confidence that your claims are correct.

My calculations were all wrong in the previous post, disregard it. Thanks to Roran for pointing this out to me and helping with them.
Sample of data from the Beastlord in 2004 using the Moss Covered Twig in offhand is still the same. Beastlords do not get the skill double attack. They only get a chance to with the AA Bestial Fury. With Bestial Fury 5 their chance to double attack is 20%. Omens of War did not come out until September 4, 2004. This expansion raised the level cap to 70. This parse was done on or before February 18, 2004. So in fact his level was 65 and his Dual Wield skill capped at 245. I'll raise the percentage I'm assuming Ambidexterity adds to 10%. (DW skill + Level / 500) + 10% = Dual Wield chance (245 + 65 / 500) + 8% = 72% Double attack chance = 20% Offhand Calculations 249 swings in 140 seconds 249 / 1.20 = 207.5 Number of swings WITHOUT double attack 207.5 / .72 = 288.194 Swings factoring in the times DUAL WIELD DID NOT FIRE 288.194 * .48578 = 139.99 In effect the delay on the Moss Covered Twig was 4.8578 Imagine he had the Moss Covered Twig in the main hand. Main Hand Calculations 249 swings in 140 seconds 249 / 1.20 = 207.5 Number of swings WITHOUT double attack 207.5 * .67469 = 139.999 His delay would have been 6.7469 I am going to attempt to show you guys just how accurate this parse is. Here is a log from Project 1999. Level 54 Monk. 252 Double Attack skill. No haste. Moss Covered Twig in Offhand. (DW skill + Level) / 400 = Dual Wield chance (252 + 54) / 400 = .765% (Double attack skill + Level) / 5 = Double Attack chance (225 + 54) / 500 = .558% Offhand Calculations 206 swings in 176 seconds 206 / 1.558 = 132.22 Number of swings WITHOUT double attack 132.22 / .765 = 172.8366 Swings factoring in the times DUAL WIELD DID NOT FIRE 172.8366 * .9820 = 175.999 We know the delay on the Moss Covered Twig is 10. Using my calculations the delay on the MCT comes out to 9.82. That is off by TWO hundredths of a second. I guess I probably just got lucky though right? | ||

The AA could actually add 0% and the calculations would not shift by enough to change the final analysis. Are there uncertainties in the calculations? Yes, but even in the most extreme case, this beastlord would have a minimum delay below 8, rendering any minor errors irrelevant (and all of the proposed errors thus far are relatively minor). Therefore, it is possible for the delay to go below 8. Therefore, 8 is not the minimum delay. If there is one, it is not at 8. | |||
