permadeath should be the standard now, so much easier to balance a game around that and it removes the need to make 30 expansions and increase the level cap to 120 like live had to do.

took the industry 20 years to figure out something that was common knowledge in 1974
Yup

Id love to know what the timeline would be like had the origional EQ be exactly the same, except a roguelike with permadeath.

That literally would have had a major impact on my life Im not sorry to say, for the better or worse, idk! I'd love to experience that timeline though. Imagine that. I cried when I lost an item in PVP and was ashamed of myself for that but imagine losing a whole character.. god I wish I knew what that would have been like for me.

There was less hand holding in 1999-2000, as well as way less participation awards and free pixels for logging in X days in a row. I think we'd all have taken it on board and even got better at the game quicker [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Random observation: WoW looks really weird to me now graphically. It's not quite old enough yet to get a pass for the way it looks like EQ or Mario 1 is, it's kinda stuck between eras. Looks like a PS2 or Gamecube game.

EQ looks like an N64 game with a somewhat higher poly count so my brain just goes ohhh okay this is old, it's fine.

You'd think people would have learned by now not to ever, ever, ever group with streamers on hardcore. Wipes are content. Drama is content.

Literally more money transferred to the 1% in the last 4 years in history, and I'm supposed to believe oligarchs are "taking over" next weekend.

Under President Biden, the wealth of the top 1% in the U.S. increased significantly, reaching new highs. In 2021 alone, their wealth rose by $4 trillion, representing 35% of all wealth gains in that year.

Richest 1% bag nearly twice as much wealth as the rest of the world put together over the past two years

GTFO here with that oligarch shit. Yall are the ones that bailed out the silicon valley investors.

"Research indicates that wealthy interest groups have significant influence over political decisions, regardless of the party in power"

So no you can't blame the Democrats or the Republicans for this.

But the alt right side pulling a reverse robinhood you definitely can blame.
Where the left wants to tax the rich.
