I don't know what to say about DJ Shadow. In 1996 Endtroducing came out. Guinness cites it as the first ever album entirely recorded from samples. But I didn't know that at the time. I was in grade school and played Diablo at my friends house on some days. And my friend had older brothers who shared the family PC and played this for me
I couldn't stop listening. Years later I came to understand that track was a remix. The original album is on YouTube Endtroducing was reissued and remastered from DJ Shadow's original DAT tapes for the album's 25th anniversary. And next year will be 30 years since this album first made history. Just like the records he samples DJ Shadow continues to influence current and future generations with his talent. It's a seminal classic from a true artist.

This is DJ Shadow's now-infamous 2012 set. He was booked at Mansion in South Beach, Miami where Mansion told him 20-30 mins into this set that it was 'too future' and kicked him off of the decks. In a bit of poetic justice Mansion closed in 2019 and Shadow is in demand more than ever. And he deserves it. Since he was kicked off the decks that night he ended up recreating the entire set as planned since he never got to play it and released it online. You can read about the event here. Quote:

Only 16 minutes in but yeah this shit's real good.
I had only ever heard his boiler room set from 2012 before (that i know of) and loved that one, i could see a crowd in miami looking for super mainstream commerical stuff not feeling it though but apparently according to that article it was just the promotor and the crowd boo'd them stopping him, so that's cool. edit: started skipping around, George Carlin @ 26:30 and the Fleetwood mac @ 1:12:00 is crazy lol. dude is definitely on a whole other level posting the boiler room set if anyone else is intrested and wants to see him djing and the introduction is really cool. my favorite track from it

This 2024 video has over 500,000 views on YouTube and looks like the winning set in that year's DMC World finals cinematized and re-performed by DJ Fly. As a side note this guy (DJ Max Best) was also in that years finals and lost to the above set performed live
