As someone brand new to EQ (ignore my join date, I never played after signing up and still regret it! I started a few months ago and have loved it), I would love to experience the original timeline. While the current servers do a good job of letting me see what it was like, they are very obviously quite "top heavy". Low level partying often have twinked alts in them, which is obviously fine but not truly indicative of how low level partying might be! A lot of gear/content also feels outdated by the natural power creep of Kunark -> Velious too. Experiencing them in their prime would be a fantastic adventure for someone like me that I hope to experience once in my lifetime.

Same, I wish I was here for a new server launch and hope to get the opportunity some time in the future. As bleak as it may look, they're still slowly working on changes to the timeline that could only be implemented on a fresh progression server.

It was the launch of Green that killed grouping on P99 IMO. When the server pop on blue was 1500 players, there were plenty of groups in all level ranges. Places like mistmoore were usually full of groups, to the point where you would wait for a spot to open up.

Green split the population in half on both servers, and encouraged people to box one blue player and one Green player. So naturally a boxer like that is going to prefer soloing on at least 1 server, as you can't really be active in a group with this setup.
Sounds like P99 could benefit from merging blue and green and releasing a fresh server teal. However I don't think they should keep the same rules I'd really like to see some changes for a new one and possibly even unlock Luclin if rules allow it.

In general the group/solo content during classic/normal progression is quite stellar and yeah, can sort of miss out on an experience there. If you are primarily focused on raiding, you didn't miss anything except a lot of pain and annoyance (I'm looking at you early sky raids). Keep that in mind if/when they reroll a new server.

EQ was. P99 changed one of the "holy trinity" of grouping classes into a solo class here, and as a result P99 has only a shadow of what EQ had in terms of groups.
Oh fuck off.

I had to mostly involutary solo my way to 60 as a wizard on live and I met plenty of monk/shaman/mage/druid/necro soloers too. Let's not pretend this version of the game is wildly different outside of like chardok and maybe velks, I made monk/shaman alts back then because they were well known solo power houses. If anything I found p99 groups much less cutthroat in general on who they invite even though we're more aware some classes are suboptimal. Back then if I wanted to group as a wiz I had to start an AE group and that option was taken from us on here. Fucking not classic. If they're going to nerf lull and channelling they might as well kill the 25 mobs limit and enforce the fucking pnp policy like they always should have.
