I hate this generalization. While I'm not a big fan, listen to Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames and tell me there is no skill.

Or Inferi - The Warrior's Infinite Opus
Or Insomnium - Mortal Share

All of these songs take an incredible amount of skill to write, play and produce. Blanket statements like that come from the same people who say "Well Rap and HipHop are just talking into a mic". I don't even like rap and I know its so much more than that.

Dragon has skill, its just most don't in my eyes everyone has there own opinion of music and I respect that. As I lay dying is dope.

I too have to disagree with you on this one.
Listen to a Cephalic Carnage album, like Lucid Interval or Anomalies and tell me they are doing simple stuff. John Merryman would be amazing even if you took away his kick drums all together.


Then again, we are sharing opinions so who's to say I'm right. But still, there is an awful lot of math out there that blows my mind on a regular basis and it's not the speeds at which they are playing.
