Agree with the druid/necro. Druid can snare multiple mobs and kite around indefinitely while the necro fear/pets/DoTs each down. Plus their DoTs stack. Find an animal camp and the druid can also charm a pet.

My wife and I enjoyed the heck out of EQ in its early days. We started in Kunark, and Velious was by far our favorite epac, so this server is just the bee's knees!

We always duod together, our mains were Monk/Shammy, and we had SK/Cleric alts. The monk and shammy could take on just about anything, at least until POP came out with the AC nerf (although we could still do quite well for exp camps).

So, we want to try something a little different this time. Thinking of druid/warrior duo because they'll level at about the same speed (that was a big problem for the cleric/SK) and, with the msaller population, having all the tricks a druid offers will be great.

Big concern though, is that the druid won't have the HPS to keep the warrior alive in the harder camps like the cleric did the SK. Or, Since there's no no slow like the shammy got to counteract the leather and lower AC of the monk, especially with no real pulling tools like feign splitting or mez. So, no CC (except root) and no slow leaves me thinking we're setting ourselves up for failure in the Velious camps.

Anyone have experience with this combo in this era? Will they be able to hold an experience camp down or camp some nameds? Or should we go back to Shammy/monk?

Finally, what is the server lacking, would a druid and warrior be welcome in groups at 60? I know we're way short on chanters, but trust me, you don't want me playing an enchanter!
Helpful hint,

You will need to apply for an IP exemption in order for your wife and you to be logged into the server at the same time. You can apply for that once your accounts are created in the petition/exploits forum. Sadly this can take a while to get approved. So please apply for it now. The population is a bit small right now, but we are getting an influx of new players. And please don't let the time it takes for the IP exemption deter to you from playing here! I promise you both will love it.

Necro / Shaman or Necro / Druid.

The regen provided by both will allow for more efficient mana regeneration on the necro's part, especially if you're a high level druid in which case natureskin + regrowth virtually negates health loss completely until you get to Demi Lich.

The necro can also ghetto heal the shaman, allowing them to cannibalize on a more frequent basis, thus allowing for more slows / dots etc. The fact that health regen is negated as aforementioned also allows the necro to avoid using lifetaps (which are particularly mana inefficient compared to typical DoTs), freeing up mana to spend on dps-enhancing dots or nukes.

A druid would lend itself to fear kiting or mass snaring/quadding particularly well, whereas a shaman would be able to assist with root rot, aggro kiting, or fear kiting. The slows would also come in handy should you attempt to duo a particularly hard-hitting mob / group of mobs.

It's really a toss up, either combo will excel in different zones / situations. For most indoor zones though, I'd have to go with shaman.

They work well, yeah, but they aren't as good at dealing with indoor stuff as a pet class (or enchanter) paired with a cleric or a shaman.

Anything plus a bard will do quite nicely [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Really- having a good bard around makes anything awesome. Although something with good CC is ideal, a druid, wizard or enchanter would make for some wiked evil kiting options, and it's a non standard combo for fun.

Cleric / SK really rocks as long as you really really like fighting a lot of undead.

You can Harmony as a Druid! doesn't replace splitting from a monk but it's definitely an option.

Dungeon Crawls are where some of the best loot is in the game. And a Enchanter is the best at it. Not counting Mind Candy. Hard to beat a Chanter in a duo. But they are a agro magnet.
