Why is everyone scared of pvp

EQ PvP is pretty horrid, especially classic version of it. Although its not really EQ, its more the "creativeness" of EQ PvP'rs in the way they utilize certain mechanics of the system.

The real killer though is EQ is a static world, you can't really hurt anyone for real so its kindof boring as well.

For PvP I prefer EvE Online, where you can remove days, months and sometimes even years of hard work and cause people to threaten your wife, children, dog or hamster with death or worse if you pk them...

It's just that no one wants to play on a server infested with the likes of Holocaust, vztzject scum, Nihilum, and others whose tactics include(documented 100%) exploiting behind zonelines, exploiting raid mobs, incessant and unnecessary griefing outside the scope of pvp, various other forms of cheating, etc.

No one wants to play with that shit. No one is afraid of pvp.

I don't enjoy PVP in EverQuest because it seems like it was added to the game as an afterthought and thus lacks real balance between the various classes in given scenarios. Also, when compared with a newer MMO the penalty for death in EverQuest is steep and so dying from other players sounds too time consuming to me. I also already have a character on the blue server.

I played on Tallon Zek for a while, I had some good times there.
I have fond memories of dungeon crawling with my friends in tower of frozen shadow when all of a sudden some one tells teh group "oh crap... theres some one else here!"... not knowing if they are going to be cool and just exp or if they were going to steam roll us into next week.
I understood as a Dark Elf mage I had no business in crushbone...and I earned that dirtnap.
I liked knowing that all Vah shir cursed my name... because they knew i didnt care how much exp i lost killing them.

I had so many good times on tallon zek.. i even tried to play pvp after they merged all the pvp servers to rallos... for about 30 mins.
I log into DL and this pali has a drolvarg problem... I being the sport that I am pet up and start killing drolvargs... sure... i could have blasted him right then and there...but etiquette demands that I help, I thought i would save this guy a exp death and earn a new friend on a new server. and so the fucker blinds me and i take a exp dirtnap and being bound in KC he camps my corpse to boot.

I like to think every PK death I ate on Tallon I earned... either for talking shmack or for my reputation for spaying and neutering any and all Vah shir.
But that was the first and last time i died for trying to be a nice guy.

Rallos-Zek or Red PvP... can die in a toilet fire.

EQ classes are not balanced right to to handle fair PvP
I enjoy pvp in team vs team battles in FPS games (UT Onslaught missions), but in EQ it just doesn't work right

You think that team vs team battles in EQ wouldn't be balanced? I'm guessing it totally is, so long as each player understands that they should not use their class in PvP like they do in PvE (necessarily).

Just because you don't walk up to someone and hit autoattack, or kite someone around in circles, or whatever, doesn't mean EQ's pvp is BROKEN. It' just means it doesn't work in the same way as PvE.


Also, I don't PvP in EQ because the people who do PvP post threads like this one.

Last time I was one Red I was in Crushbone on my 14 Druid. A whole group attacked me with a level 50 Cleric PLing them doing heals on them.

I mean WTF is that all about. OK one on one but Like I stand a chance against a whole group. Yeah right. I died like 3 times trying to get my corpse.
Then they are sounded like 11 year old kids on OOC.

As slow as XP is on there I really don't need all the greif and the BS of I am going to kill your ass crap on a tell. Leave it to the 25 Poopsockers that will be left in a month or two. They deserve each other.

The problem is most PvPers here seem to derive their pleasure of PvP from griefing other players.

Cool dude you can have 3 players against 1 player and keep killing him when he has no gear running to get his corpse.... Mad skills?

Also EQ was never balanced in PvP so some classes are amazing (see bard) and some are terribly awful (see warrior).

Plus.. all PvP players are pussies cause they just are /anon and /role 100% of the time so they never have people seeking them out.
