what ive observed, most of those new bards have been started after the server went back online in the 25%exp-week.

Why not play both? Log in whatever - when you feel like it.

I also found wiz pretty boring - a lot of sitting around meddling - and too many enchanters mean not enough AE groups which are much more fun.

But hitting 20 and getting various gates sparked my interest in wizard again.

No rush to 50. Try whichever you want. By the time you reach 30 (hell lvl) you'll have a better idea of which to stick with.

Actually enchanters can facillitate AE groups immensely [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] It's just your standard setup for a group (tank, healer, CC) means that because you've got a wizard it isn't feasible to AE.

You want an AE group, get 2 wizards, 2 enchs, cleric and a bard. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] works a treat. Can replace out one of the enchs for another wizard if you want, but 2 enchs is safer [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I've actually never been in an AoE group, is it a viable exp method or are there a lot of deaths usually? I was on my wiz last night but I swear.. the grass under my ass probably has a solid imprint from medding so much .

I did AoE pretty much exclusively on the prog server from 51-60. It's ... different. What you have is a bard pulling (usually) and they'll round up about 30 mobs, which they then guide into your ench, who hits them with the PBAE stun and keep casting this, whilst the wizards / mage / cleric PBnuke. the mobs. It's safer with 2 enchs since if you get a resist on your stun the mob will hit you and possibly interupt your next stun, which will be instant death.

But the exp is great, you get probably half a level per pull in some cases, and you have a nice afk break till you're full mana or the mobs respawn. So it's not a constant pull a mob, kill a mob type group. I like the kill loads of mobs, browse the web for 6 minutes, kill loads of mobs again... [You must be logged in to view images. Sounds fun. makes me want to start a wizard lol. I played one till 50 on classic then switched to an enchanter. If I was doing these AE groups with a wiz I probably would have never switched.

Sounds like a delicate process [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Gotta have some good synergy between your bard and your chanter(s). I'll keep playing my wiz I guess, it's not THAT bad. I wanna try this out in Kunark if you're still around.

Druids are also great for AoE groups.
