You're merely speculating that he didn't fully understand it. Clearly I remember it to work the way that post describes, and so does Ambrotos. Jilena remembers it the same way here.

Your link has links to epic 2.5, so you're going to have to come up with something a bit older than that.

From 2006:

http://crucible.samanna.net/viewtopi...p=40146#p40146

"Yes, if you run past a KOS someone else engaged you are 99% sure to be put on the hate list. If the group wipes or drops from the hate list some other way (FD) you will get aggro. If you are on the other corner of the zone your proximity may be so great that it won't aggro, but that depends on the NPC. Once you are on the hate list it doesn't matter if your hate is 1 or 1000000. If the hatelist is size 1 it is still coming after you. "

I believe all undead npcs should work this way, and some npcs which scowl to all.

Undead npcs should redirect their tophate to the closest available PC or pet in proximity provided no one has done damage to the npc being trained. (In which case they should continue following the PC or pet who has done damage.)

I do not believe all npcs in the game worked like this.
Definitely.

Spectres and the Nektulos skeletons, lesser mummies, zombies.. they all did this.

I distinctly remember undeads aggroing that way. I don't recall any others, though.
