Lucy Info on the fire pet ds lists the casting time as "0" : http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.htm...27&source=Live

Same with air pet : http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.htm...28&source=Live

The spell they cast is instant, yes. I am talking about how long after they are "born" they decide its time to put on the DS or turn invisi.

I.E. chain casting fire pets and expecting them to have the DS up right away so you can throw it at the mob was never a given.

Yes, fire pets should not ALWAYS cast their damage shield. Sometimes it should take several seconds. However, I have had fire pets after this patch up for over 2-3 minutes with no damage shield, while others cast after about 10 seconds. (I haven't gotten out my stopwatch... yet)

Another problem is they won't cast it once engaged with a mob... they will just attack. So if I am chain summoning, there will NEVER be a damage shield on the second pet until the NPC I am in battle with is dead. So my Project1999 chain summoning strategy now is reduced to binding all the way across the zone and when my pet dies, gate, then cast a new pet, and before the mob gets to me the new pet has usually gotten up his damage shield. This is definitely not classic. Fire pets threw up DS randomly but usually in under one server tick, I believe fairly similar to how an NPC shaman, wizard, etc throws up their buffs once they spawn.

The fact that they won't cast DS once engaged with a mob might be classic... I really can't remember that. But I never saw that problem back in 1999-2000, probably because the pets DSed themselves almost immediately, so any fire pet sent to /pet attack would have DS up.

Sadly the above post is not correct. Fire pets would take 5 seconds to 2-3 minutes to DS

Do you have evidence of that? I don't have evidence of what I posted above, only personal experience. I still never recall in classic chain summoning a fire pet and when the mob starts whacking him there is no damage shield. I have started binding across the zone and gating to "chain" a pet so that when the mob reaches us my pet's damage shield is up. I never had to do this back in 1999-2000. Wish I had video from back then [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

So is this going to be returned to "normal" or left "classic"?
