Agree that item loot would kill server pop. That's just reality.


Opt-in item loot flag would be awesome though. No drawbacks to that one.

Would need some interesting logic...

player_01 = flagged for item loot
player_02 = flagged for item loot
player_03 = not flagged for item loot

If player_01 and player_02 fight with no interaction from anyone else the victor should be able to loot an item from the other player.

If player_03 interferes with the fight at all, no item loot should be allowed, but it could get tricky here... you can see the possibly "exploitable" scenarios here...

How would you propose opt-in item loot would work if player_03 interferes?

There's such things as no drop gear which become more valuable and with charm working so reliably on planar mobs here (it really shouldn't) anyone should be able to farm the shit out of at least plane of fear for a full suit of no drop.

Coupled with fixes to root / stun / blind / snare... think its a good thing.

Not to mention... you know... you CAN bag things if attacked or just don't want to risk your resist / droppable haste gear.

Speed-bagging your items while leaving numlock autorun on was always such a retarded mechanic.

I liked item loot for the higher risk/reward but the fact is it will cut the population because it's too hardcore for most people to deal with.

Helps create some PKs to run around for you all to get anti and up and arms about. PvP for items is great for the unguilded, gives them something to do to get things other than camp a mob for 4 hours.

Not to mention it makes twinks afraid to risk their gear and not just wear tranix crowns and a full boat of gear without fear of reprisal. I think Nilbog sees all the good reasons to do it and I agree with the rest of you up until the point resists are fixed on the afore mentioned. If root/snare/stun/blind are ever fixed it should go in bros.
