No I'm being serious. I spent a lot of time playing on the free shards back in the day. There is a good balance between live-like (pre AoS, pre-Ren, etc.) shards and custom shards, and the population on many of the more well-known servers is immense.

Let us know which server you join. Fair warning though since you haven't played UO before. It's not exactly a steep learning curve but there is quite a bit of disparity in power/wealth between the vets and new players and getting to the same playing field is quite an ordeal. Very worth it in the end though.

UO PvP is as cut-throat as it gets too.

There are plenty of phenomenal servers out there, but In Por Ylem is probably the most well known.
