A mana efficient way to level a druid is to use charmed animals. If you dont want the pet xp penalty simply do it in a group of 2 or more. If you want to be a priest with a faster way to regen mana consider a shaman who gets abilities to do that at level 24.

At level 17, porcupining is still effective as well.

Basically the only classes with mana problems are druids, wizards, sometimes mages and rarely clerics.

Shamans can canni, mages have pets that can kill with minimum mana needed, necros have pets and lich-spells, enchanters can clarity. Bards are semi-casters with mana that is only used for charms. It is only the druid and wizard that solo all the time and require meditating. So either get an enchanter buddy, group, or find something else to do while you meditate.

Being a druid also gives you the option to bind at your usual hunting ground, por to EC, donate for a clarity to any high lvl enchy (Always somebody in there) and then gate back [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.].

First off, I love the server and thank everyone for providing an invaluable experience.

I'm wondering if there are any mana management guides out there. I've been searching, but haven't found much information on the Interwebs on how to regenerate mana quickly in classic EQ. I'm currently leveling a level 17 druid and I'm wondering if I should be managing my mana differently or if I should expect very long downtimes. Is the answer to simply conserve and then meditate (a lot)? Other than basic water and food, it doesn't look like there's much else I can do unless a chanter is in the area. I'm starting to learn more that the key is to only use the spells I really need - is that the right direction? I'm concerned that downtime is only going to dramatic increase in the future.

Any pointers appreciated, thanks!
It astounds me how many people neglect the use the p99 wiki [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

This is probably the best advice. Bind where you are hunting and teleport to WC. You can grab a c or c2 there. A lot of enchanters don't except donations because they rock! I always port the enchanters who helped give me c for free if I ever see they need one.

Once you figure this out, timing med ticks is the next step. It allows you to squeeze out that kill on the tag-a-longs on your quad.

As a new wizzie I've found it's best to have something else to do while you're medding. For example I kill a mob, I'm down to half mana, I alt+tab out to play some Football Manager then alt+tab back and kill another mob. If Football Manager is getting boring, I got do some Chess problems, etc.
