Going back to the original issue but I saw this happen as well. I am not sure if dots are related to this problem but here is an example:

I was in unrest and got a level 17 ghoul down to 10% then a level 10 mage sent his fire pet to finish off the final few hits and the level 10 got the credit. Most of the damage I did was through dots so it could be something related to that.

Pretty sure this is a bug. I know that Damage Shield's are treated as a neutral damage source and will not give you credit towards a kill but dots should register as player dmg.

That makes sense but it is still bugged. Like I said I was fighting something before and a monk came up and hit my mob once for 20 dmg or so in the middle of the fight and somehow got the credit.

I can add this as it just happened, I nuked a mummy down to 25% solo, a mage pet got agro due to root and killed it. Mage got exp and looting, i got nothing...
