I mean, it really depends on what type of law you do as well as your seniority level. As someone who now works on the transactional side in the financial industry, my days and weekends are highly variable. Plus, at this point in my career I am not in the weeds on every single thing...most of what I get involved in is because a senior associate (or thereabouts in title level) either needs me to sign off on something or is escalating something to me that needs a more senior person's involvement. So some days can actually be quite slow if deal flow is low for a period of time.
But yeah even when it's busy anyone in the world can find a few minutes to read an article, peruse (sorry, if you need me to define that for you let me know, I know it's an SAT word) a forum, etc.
But overall, I apologize that you got your panties in a bunch because I pointed out that the very vast majority of people who get indicted end of getting convicted in court. Your personality and happiness seem to revolve around your ability to "own the libs" to quote a commonly used phrase among your side of the spectrum...I apologize for eliminating that ability for you to some extent

Do you tell your clients "Oh, you got stopped by the police? You're guilty. Go to jail."?
I bet you do.
