Under normal circumstances maybe, but airports in Europe now are all sorts of fucked. Schiphol in Amsterdam has been overwhelmed all summer. Canceling flights, 2 hour security lines, etc. apparently laying off a bunch of staff during covid was a bad idea.
I thought I’d be smart and take the train from Paris to Amsterdam and it wasn’t much better. 1.5 hours delayed, and then ended up getting in so late that I missed the last train and had to cab home.
So it ain’t all sunshine and tulips. But the pros of living in a country where everyone has health care are very evident. Less fatties too.

Rick Perry had done all the ground work for high speed rail between Dallas and Houston. Dallas and Houston have the busiest passenger flight routes in the US. Southwest Airlines greatly upped their donations to Greg Abbott’s campaigned and all of a sudden the rail project took a nose dive
Texas has 22 million people living in and around Houston, SA, Austin, and Dallas. With any amount of will, these cities could be connected like what you have in Europe. I’m sorry that the system isn’t working over there right now, but we can’t even get track put down because of morons on both sides like Greg Abbott and Gavin newsom, who has botched California’s rail project
