The problem is that saying AFK = loses all camp holding is inherently faulty. Whats the time limit on AFK? If I am camping a 5-10 minute respawn camp, go AFK to bathroom for 2 mins, and someone messages me 5s after I leave and doesnt see a response for 30 secs, is that then going AFK and losing rights to a camp?

Let's say you have a camp, clear all the mobs in that camp, and have 22 minutes left for respawns. You can leave the computer, walk a block to trade a blowjob for coke, and if you make it back before respawns then the camp is still yours.

People don't get to show up to a cleared out camp, message someone, see they are afk, and shout "CLAIMED".

If that happens to anyone I fully advocate eBullying to the fullest degree possible. If that doesn't work, make a new character, befriend, talk each and everyday, eventually after three years of friendship meet up for some drinks, drug them, and then have them arrested in a hotel room with a dead hooker.

What this thread seems to come down to is:

You can be the person that is decent enough to let it go. If you see someone in the vicinity of a camp you are interested in, you send them a tell, to inquire about their intentions, If there intention is to camp a certain spawn you that you were willing to spend time camping for any length of time, you leave. You let it go. If they respond no, and there are no other players in the vicinity of the camp who have arrived before you, Voila! its yours! If they are seemingly AFK, its up to your discretion whether or not to wait around for either a response, or for the specified mob to spawn. If that player is AFK for an amount of time after said mob spawns where you can make a logical discernment that they either don't know the spawn timers and are truly "AFK camping" with the intention of just being there and hoping that people will assume its camped, or will simply be AFK far too long to give them the rights to the spawned mob, then take it. But that amount of time should not be a matter of seconds, because unfortunately, shit happens, (literally), and if that player had to drop a deuce, or answer a phone, or is in a fight with their spouse and comes back in an indiscriminate amount of time, then threads like this happen. And threads like this, while entertaining, are obnoxious and infectious. Hell if i'm determined to camp a certain spawn, the first thing I do is a /w all of that zone, I send tells to folks in the zone first to even see if there's another player also determined to camp that same spawn, if so, I let it go... I do this to simply avoid all of this nonsense to begin with. And Yes I know... Some players wont show up on a /w all if anon, so if there are no responses claiming, "yes, i am camping that NPC", then I start making my way, and I refer to the previous aforementioned steps.

You can also be that person that's just simply an asshole, and when you see a player in the vicinity of the camp, you can start interpreting and quoting every rule that has ever been hear-said, threaten said player with fraps, break out the EQ lawbook, go to town and create a mess out of the situation. While also potentially ruining your reputation. Don't be player number 2. don't be an asshole.
