In Revelation 6:6 what is meant by "Do not damage the oil and the wine”?

The activity of the rider on the black horse in John's vision was not to be directed against items such as wine and olive oil, items only enjoyed by the more affluent of society, thus implying that during the famine the wealthy would live on as if life was unchanged.
