The second is that in WOW you are essentially competing against the difficulty of the game. Yes I said it. The difficulty of the game. In EQ most of the "difficulty" is other players. The way things are made rare is by having a single serverwide spawn, which is then a rare spawn and requires you to camp it for long periods to get.
1. I think you have this completely backwards. If anything EverQuest is the prime example of a PLAYER vs GAME environment.

small example:
EQ - Leveling 1-10 is hard as sh*t when you're not twinked or buffed
WoW - Follow the green line to lvl 20 (whatever the fluff the cap is)

2. EverQuest mob/item (spawn rates) availibility are completely intentional to avoid early mudflation. It's not for the sake of the community that you have spawn rates for some grind group mobs around 1/100, it's a direct fix to the game to avoid, as I said previously, an influx in gamebreaking items.

At lvl 50 an FBSS is doing jack and sh*t in all seriousness, if your DPS sucks because you don't have an FBSS you're not equipped correctly. However, a lowbie with an FBSS might as well just go on autorun with attack on then come back when level 30ish.

Also, just a brief relatively unrelated point -

People really have a lot to say about the game economy/playerbase/KSing/camp issues without considering that; 95% of the community are EQ veterans, all of us share a non-expanded classic version of EQ, and all of us have rigid ideas based on having played EQ of how the server should be run.

If I were to elaborate on any of those 3 points I made, I'd really focus on the fact that ~800 EQ vets are playing on an as-of-yet expansionless server.

YES it is crowded in Lguk
YES your mob was KS'd
YES the GM's are busy
YES Kunark will give us breathing room

chill out, friends.

Default Well then

Then I do not think it is necessary to smear the individuals name. I will just not play with or near them in the future.

No, you just have misinterpreted what I said.

I never said eq was easier. Grinding in eq is a lot harder, that is if you solo. As for groups, well eq is pretty easy but it just takes time. Unless you have a bad group I suppose.

Yes, Im aware of this. Trouble is its a terrible solution, and you only have to read through the posts in this forum to see why. Sorry but I dont want to put up with that shit. More power to you if you like KS'in and being KS'd and training people and flaming/being flamed on forums. Most of us prefer actually playing the game and not having to put up with that sort of crap from other guilds and players.

It reminds me of one of the things that was definitly one of the proverbial straws that broke the camels back, back in 2002-3 when we were a small guild trying to progress, and to get anywhere from our current situation we needed to get keyed for VT.

So we camped all our shards and did all the work, and for just about everyone in the guild, all that was needed was the emperor ssszra kill. Our guild kept checking to see if he was up, and pretty much stagnated for about 3 months before people eventually got sick of it and the guild broke up.

Normally it wouldnt have been so much of a problem, but another guild was farming VT at the time, and they didnt want the competition, so they kept emperor killed. They being on a US time zone, and us being on an asian time zone, meant that they raided up to about a few hours before we started.

I believe the term for it is cockblocking, and I believe the respawn time for emperor was either 5 days or a week. Of course it would spawn a nice multiple of 24 hours after it was killed, so once you killed it once, you "owned" the spawn.

Anyway Im pretty much through with this server. I was planning on playing it until civ 4 and elemental war of magic came out, but I think Im going to cut that short because I dont want to have to put up with the shit that happens here. I play MMO's to fight monsters, not to be jacked by other asshats.
