Do the Aviaks have smaller hit boxes than giant scarabs and giant spiders? I can't seem to get this down, I literally run smaller and smaller circles around those, and cannot hit them unless I am within their hit range.

Tried kiting for the first time in SK last night. I have a lvl 23 almost 24 bard and I couldnt get it efficiently. I didnt die but it took way too long and I was only kiting four mobs tops. Just couldnt find the sweet spot to get the dot to land and not get hit and stunned most of the time.

I used to do pretty good as a bard.

I have played bard for 7 years and did:charm kiting and dot kiting and aoe kiting.

If the game is anything like it was in kunark era or planess era, then i can safely say that dot kiting is still in action and aoe may be possible.

I am not sure 100% though.

Charm kiting becomes very very strong at level 65 for soloing as a bard.

I know because i used to camp the hobgoblins for xp and cash.

What is the max level? and should i ever replay a bard,is aoe useful again?

Necro thread!

Charm kiting doesn't work on this server because hate does not pass to the pet, it falls to the bard so on recharm all the mobs ignore the new pet.

It takes some practice to find the sweet spot, but once you get it it pays massive dividends. I was averaging about a level every 2 hours 18-26 doing it. It starts to get harder to find good areas to kite masses of blue mobs (it's hard to get enough in SK it's so overcamped) around 28+ I've noticed. I've grouped the last few levels and sure do miss that exp. :P

My Bard's 12, and has been doing it since 8. It's very effective, you just have to be (extremely) patient and flexible while you learn the ticks.

I had a ton of HP gear, and kiting 20+ mobs I usually had one round of hits worth of a buffer zone before they dropped me. If I made a mistake and got hit/stunned, I had to get out of their range immediately and twist in healing song with a lute for a while to heal before attempting it again. That's part of the patience...

A really good place to start is gfay - I found that grabbing non-caster orcs and the willowisps that spawn near the newb lift and near felwithe were good practice before I went to NK.

Also, Beetles (even the giant ones), Griffawns, Bears, and Cats mostly have average hit boxes and are great kiting material. Lions have big hit boxes for some reason, I avoid them. I've heard Crag Spiders have big hit boxes too, but haven't tried them yet.

I've had a very hard time swarm kiting at lvl 30 and above. It seems like Selo's is so fast that I can't turn sharp enough to hit the mobs with my dots, unless I take off the drums, and then I run too slow and they catch up too easily. =/

It gets tricky at that level, you can hold down turn because the mob isn't moving fast enough so you have to tap the turn key A WHOLE LOT MORE [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

It hurts a ton. I look forward to not relying on bellows for kiting giants so I can get some more range on them and use all chants, but yeah.

So I should be using my drum for Selos even if it outruns the mobs anyways?
