Do you find the concept that there is no free will to be threatening to you in some way? Why?

You are a object of your consciousness and the subject of your physical perception's constructed reality. Everything you've known, thought, or experienced is suspect when it comes to ascertaining something "true" or "real."

Don't look at me. If it's not obvious from my posts, my beliefs are closest to logical positivism and new sincerity. Sometimes I come across as a depressive realist, but that's pretty much an artifact of stress and not enough sleep. I don't deny that most Americans act like postmodern cynics (most with extreme chemical dependency), but I think that's because modern wealth and convenience encourage sloth and cowardice.

Is this how you talk when you're sober or when you're REALLY drunk? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Good guesses! I've been kind of hungover all day after I tried and failed to get myself drunk last night--I had four hard ciders and then got sick of them. I didn't sleep enough all week mostly due to starting my summer job, so I've been sleeping for almost all of the last 15 hours. I just woke up from a nap in which I had a dream about having sex with a post-op tranny, but people kept interrupting us. I will never recover from the trauma of the jiggly fat girl gifs.

I cannot remember my last beer. I don't think I've had one this year. Oh wait, it was a Blue Moon. Kelly brought a case to our studio one weekend, probably in February or March. I'm mostly a wine and brandy drinker. I'm going to try again tonight at Jen's party with a bottle of prosecco.

existence itself is bizarre, whether we have free will or not. imo, however, consciousness arising within a purely deterministic universe is the more bizarre of the two possibilities.
