Actually they do, one of them even has several types of plasma launchers (it's the future mang). Melee weapons as well.

I'm normally one of those people who will absolutely pick apart inconsistencies and shitty movie science, but I didn't care here.

This movie delivered, and I almost passed out from all the blood rushing to my nerd boner.

Which was the point. It was a fun action flick, and a step above the normal fare (Transformers, GI Joe, etc.) with some good performances (Idris Elba) and some fun ones (Charlie Day, Ron Perlman). What more do you want for $10 on a weekend for 2 hours of fun escapism? Not everything needs to be "realistic" and "gritty" and drive home a point about the human condition ya know.

Oh, I absolutely agree. I'm just saying that it was so much fun that I forgot to be a Debbie Downer for more than 5 minutes.

Although I wish Idris Elba had given the speech from Independence Day instead at the end. Would have been $$$.

If you liked Idris Elba in this by the way, you should view Luther. Another fun unrealistic but stylistic series he is in and he shines in.

Saw it this weekend w/ my 12 year old son. Wasn't execting much out of it other than to entertain the little man, but over all was very surprised w/ how good and just how much fun this movie was to watch/experience. The visuals were awesome, not too fast that you cannot keep up with them, and the sound was great too. Thuds just like you'd expect a monster to make when tromping around.

Also not too long and not too short. Plus they didn't take an hour to build up the premise either, just dove right in and it was a good fun ride from beginning to end.

IMO you should go see it, was worth it!

Was a pretty fun movie, although my brother and I couldn't stop laughing at the "analog electricity" moment. We were hoping the Jaeger was going to be lit by candles with an army of hamsters powering it.

My brother said the same thing during the movie so I started reciting as much of that speech as I could remember.

Still quite enjoyable despite the cheesy predictable and lolscience moments. It fit the whole cheesy godzilla genre except that the action scenes were cool as shit.
