While we're on the topic: I don't think people know the difference between the server decision makers (Nilbog, Rogean), GM staff, and developers.

LOL. Do people actually think this? If you aren't joking, you're wrong as hell if you think opening or closing a server would be influenced by guilds or individuals.
I think it is carrying the logic a bit far to say that there is any link between server staff, TMO, and a new server outside of the fact that many people would like a chance to escape p99's dominated raid scene to one that perhaps would have a gm-enforceable "gentlemen's agreement" about the one thing *90% of people on this server play for (raiding).

*83% of statistics made up on the spot

I'd prefer to see real change in the raid scene rather than a new server.

Pretty much this. Anyone who thinks a new server wouldn't cause a 80/20 population split is delusional and they know this. People would jump at the chance to get out of TMO's litterbox and leave them to play in their own filth. It would be the ultimate troll on the biggest group of trolls on the server and most of us would relish it. TMO would lord over a desolate wasteland with their 200+ accounts and it would be magical.

That said, it is what it is. The GMs would never piss in the TMO cheerios, and they know a server split would do exactly that. It's a wet dream at best. Most of us are waiting, chomping at the bit, for the chance to laugh at TMO and their efforts being brought to ruins. You serve enough vitriol, eventually it's bound to come back to you. Looking to the GMs to solve the problem by basically backstabbing their biggest friends/contributors on the server is a bad plan. So I am what most of us are, playing anyways, because TMO's litterbox is still better than any of the new age MMO's and their easymode BS.
hate to tell you but TMO would just come to the new server and rule it. but at least I would have a chance at a guise or manastone

You think you would? I promise the manastone camp would be locked down like it was on this server by IB. Penoy had 8 at one point I remember.

The Ass/Supp wasn't locked down because I guess people didn't remember how cool it is to have a guise - but it would definitely be locked down on a new server. And it would be locked down by the same people that are in TMO - that is, the people that have 24 hrs/day to spend on a game at a camp.

Yes, but at least this time around they (and by "they" I don't mean those people specificly just the people who started p99 early in general) won't have access to all the non-classic bugs and features that were still in place the first year-ish the server was live.

I've been here for over 3 years and, yes, missed some of the content I would have liked to be around for like rubicite and manastones, etc....But people who started early didn't just have the advantage of starting early, they got to use maps, target circles, translocators, a compass, etc etc. Just some examples, there was a bug that pretty much let charming classes perma-charm anything or the Ivandyr's hoop deal or that the bazillion monks got to buy Wu's armor or the fact that you can currently get cultural armor that rivals planar armor for cheap because it doesn't require high end gems, etc etc etc....and THAT is how lot's of people locked down mobs, amassed fortunes in plat, althewhile RMTing and boxing (they weren't as good at detecting that then), etc giving them an advantage that newer players will never have....By using NON CLASSIC bugs and mechanics and, by the rules of this server, outright CHEATS not just by starting earlier than others.

Not to mention, kunark has been out for about twice as long as kunark was live before velious and the server is so inflated it's ridiculous, and we still have no word on when velious will be here. There is nothing remotely classic about getting in oasis groups with epiced alts.

Mostly, I just like starting fresh, especially on fresh servers.

So, yes, if they were up for it I would donate generously for a new server.

well true but manastones used to only cost 10k-20k when p99 was pretty new. So that is not too terrible by just farming furies, giants, or something of that nature. Now it would take months to get to whatever a manastone costs.

Guise on the other hand would be rough... but i would hope since there is no more account trading that most people would the guise for their main and be done. That probably wont be the case.

the server would lose credibility if the GMs randomly decided to let stuff like this happen.

at best, a gm event that gave classic items as a reward would be reasonable imo...and rarely.
