not really different from the other CCG Bliz already done for wow.
not really different from any other CCG where good cards are so rare, that the only way to get them is to $$$, at which point any "skill" goes out of the window.

Gave up on MTG 12 years ago, sat down and designed my own CG for me and my friends to play. Everyone has access to exactly same cards - only skill matters.

The people who invented the first space ships were brilliant. That doesn't mean anybody should actually want to use them 200 years later. Ideas are limited by means of execution. Everquest has amazing ideas that need to be completely reworked in their execution, in order for classic Everquest as it was envisioned to actually exist and continue to be relevant as things have evolved.

It's a fucking card game of course it's gonna have money sinks.

It's fun as hell though and they've done a great job so far, I'm quite impressed.

i DO enjoy it dont get me wrong. i just dont really feel like dropping 100$ into the game in order to feel competitive. you could make a magic deck with commons and uncommons..maybe a rare or two, not be top tier.. but still put some smack down on people.

Isn't Arena the same thing as Drafting in Magic? I haven't actually gotten into that part of it yet but it seemed the same on the surface. Isn't that a way to still be competitive without dumping obscene amounts of money into Hearthstone?

ya but it costs gold ( money ) to enter as well. granted its not that much and is doable w/o paying anything out of pocket but the grind time vs the 2 dollar fee is laughable.

Question for everyone.

Should I throw down $$ for a MTGO account and do Sealed Deck tourneys for shits and giggles every now and then? I want to relive the magic days of my youth (97-00) during like 3rd edition. Will I achieve that fun?

It'd be more fun to webcam a game w/ me, using cards from 97-00.

I played sealed deck tournaments till after Urza's. That's when I personally thought it wasn't as fun.

urza block was beyond broken, new magic is just battle cruiser magic, make monsters etc etc, they neutered all the fun out of magic
