enchanter is still the best option for farming or soloing consistently and they are not gear reliant imo. my shaman has strings and tbh i dont find them at all necessary unless im trying to kill something particularly nasty, like if you wanted to solo something like seb emperor. they are great for killing 1 or 2 named mobs but obviously not good for a consistent soloing/farming session of clearing lots of trash or farming ng for gems etc. if your just trying to drop a chunk of platinum on a toon to feel strong your best options are melee toons, specifically monks or warriors.

Malo(sini) + cha buff is pretty good. Using strings to farm something like seafuries is extremely counterproductive because of the recharge costs, but for killing difficult mobs or oh shit moments strings are super strong (read:op).

With winter approaching, Im just looking at making a new toon to carry forward into velious for solo/farming/having fun/challenge.

Well the all time champion of the solo artist challenge is a shaman with puppet strings. Ahead of all the top enchanters on the server. So that says something in itself.

Shamans and Enchanters each have their strengths and weaknesses soloing. Ask an enchanter to solo a crypt named and they'll gate half the time.

The way it works is, a shaman with grea gear can kill 99% of stuff. An enchanter might only be able to kill 97% of stuff, but the chanter can do so with normal gear and much less hassle than a sham can. I don't even want to try to solo emp with tecmos, but svenn has an equally powerful aversion to trying to solo in hs south.

Totally agree. Don't mean to take any credit away from your awesome solo artist challenge resume Tecmos. When i'm working my way through a dungeon I just wish so badly that I could mezz / lull some mobs to make the process easier.

That's one thing, chanters can break spawns so much easier than shamans. All we have for CC is roots, and as soon as you cast one the whole room is on your ass.
