There's nothing game breaking about what's being offered as an incentive. If you don't want to help Pantheon, don't help... no need to nerd rage all over the forum. Help or not you'll still be enjoying 1-4 weeks of 50% XP bonus. Still mad?

I don't understand how the staff can be against RMT by the players but then engage in it themselves.

not a very good parallel... one is very much not classic and goes against everything we fight for on this server and the other is just granting mild privileges for supporting a game.

i hardly think that's comparable.

this game is about revitalizing a classic MMORPG. the project began because we all felt there was a hole where everquest once was because no modern MMO was stepping up to fill that void. now there's a game that is ready to fill that hole, and you're all complaining that devs giving mild incentives to support that game is disappointing to you?

Seriously though, this game was announced earlier this month. It's officially in the "Twitter hype" stage of development. I don't know all of the details of any pay2win policy coming to P99 (I haven't watched the stream), but implementing such in-game advantages for RL money seems like a poor move. But hey, it's not my server.

Here's to hoping it will be more than just a Vanguard-esque flop 9 years down the road.

you might want to check out brad's interview with boogie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45XrbsBt34c) for more information about the game (boogie asks what happened with vanguard and how fans can be sure that it won't happen with pantheon, and brad answers it well.)

as for "so hype", i've been following the FAQs and interviews pretty closely since finding out about it, so i'm not talking from my ass. it's pretty exciting to hear that a modern everquest is in the works by a team of dedicated, experienced people trying to create the game most of us here have been waiting for for 15 years. i don't think my statement is off the mark at all - this game truly *is* ready to fill the void left by classic everquest. that's how brad is positioning it, which is what i mean by "ready to fill". it seems that much of pantheon is being modeled after everquest.

No matter what happens there will be a portion of the population that will complain about it. I know Pantheon isn't exactly solving world hunger, but people would complain about p99 supporting that kickstarter with a similar promotion as well.

OMG! Kids should eat but why you gotta ruin my gaming experience by giving a few fungi staffs and guises out to people I may never run into?!

I'm just glad there's a way to reintroduce a few staves removed in RMT bans. Someday the same players complaining may find themselves buying a staff that entered the game via this promotion in EC. It isn't as if they're holding 100 raffles, so the impact is very small.
