Still, a lot of people say it's broken. I hear it all the time.
AC works better here now in the present than it did in 2009/10. But the consensus is that AC for the most part is still 'broken' compared to what the AC stat was on live.

Why? Who knows....

however one thing that can't be debated is the fact that when Velious hit, EVERY tank on live was stacking AC via their Kunark armor sets and all the raid tanks always always always choose things with higher AC if the gear upgrade choice was AC vs Stats.

Was it that the player base was 'dumb' not realizing that the Kunark armor was actually not all that great and the players just wore it 'because it was from the second expansion'.

Maybe. Who knows....

Thanks for your insight! I do sometimes think it's also a bit of people not fully understanding the mechanic itself. I don't think the devs would let such an issue go on unchecked if it was true and they probably find it insulting that people even say it. It would still be nice to get some official explanation on whether it's working as it did before or if it's still being tweaked. I don't think that's much to ask.

Awesome! Though I still think it needs more data to the pool especially because of RNG. IMO it kinda only seems plausible for a GM/Dev to do the test since they can create a completely controlled environment with set factors and conditions to the T. Well, makes the most sense and most practical way anyways. clearly yes, if it's working we should be able to notice the differences and effects. So yeah, Idk.

I have some questions about the data reported, and the actual calculations that are used:

1. The logs I've seen posted in other threads seem like a very small sample size. Its nice to have the exact percentages per mob... but doesn't it seem like this Should have a Swing? How much of a swing? Why hasn't someone logged data for the same fight with the same monster 10 times and averaged them?

2. Where does the Random Number Generator fit into the calculation? Does it determine only hit/miss? After hit, Random number from minimum damage to maximum damage? I just don't see the random numbers at all when I fight at level 40.. I see static numbers that only vary a couple points from specific points.

3. I like having mystery and myths, its the only thing that can make someone wear different equipment from the next person. If the calculation was known, would it cause everyone to wear the same Best in slot equipment? Already happens to monks because they have so few options.

Just my unimportant concerns. I'm having fun without needing to min/max.

I notice a pretty substantial difference in damage taken when going from 900 to 1000 AC as a monk.

I wouldn't say "AC is broken" technically, it makes a difference.
