What I do agree with though is that this server will not last forever, and it's already been several years. There's no way Rogean can commit to anything without a financial backing or legal obligation. We can hope for the best though and may Velious give us ... FOUR MORE YEARS!

Here's what I mean: it's true that by missing the early days of the server you missed your chance to be a non-bard/enchanter that can look like a dark elf, or to be a non-necromancer that looks like a skeleton, or to be a non-shaman who can cannabalize a bit. But that's just about it ... well that and time. But look what you gained: for one thing, there are far more players now than there were in the old days. That means it's easier to find a group, easier to find that item you want to buy in EC, etc. Also, the players you group with will (on average) have far better gear than the players you would have grouped with earlier. You can view that as a negative ("everyone but me is a twink") but I see it as a positive. Effectively by grouping with twinks you are "getting twinked", or at least "getting power-leveled" in a sense, because you get loot/exp faster than you would grouping with non-twinks. Which brings me to my next point: the kindness of strangers. I just started a druid the other day, and I breezed through the first few levels because a kind higher level druid was around (foraging for acorns) and they kept buffing me with regen, a damage shield, and wolf form. Earlier on there would have been less players on the server, with a lower average level, making that sort of thing much rarer. And then there's my final point: the extreme kindness of strangers. A (real life) friend of mine got given a bunch of stuff by an in-game friend he made, and he wound up giving me one item (a Barbarian Spiritist's Hammer). Then, many months later I was sitting in Sebilis and a level 60 shaman (who is AWESOME, but I won't name because I don't want him beset by beggars) just up and gave me the JBB off his back (er wrist). I'd been saving for months and months, and still had months to go before I could afford one, and this kind stranger just gave me one of the most important pieces of shaman equipment. Needless to say, back in the "golden years" I would almost certainly not have my JBB or hammer. Of course, I can't guarantee that a kind stranger will give you a great item ... but maybe they will. And the point is, your chances of it happening are much better now than they were before, and there are other important advantages to starting on P99 now as well. Keep that in mind before pining too much for the olden days [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

![]() So something I'm gleaning here is that it's important to love what you do and just have fun. So maybe I need to examine what class I'm playing rather than what speed I'm moving at. Soooo... Really hate pulling, a lot. I like tanking but I'm not addicted to it. I hate being one dimensional, with no decision making. Pets are meh, take it or leave it. I like being able to be the center of a group. I don't pull. I don't like it one bit. My only restrictions are I play on a very small notebook, so stuff like swarm kiting, quad kiting and the like is way out of the realm of what I can do on a daily basis. I love the fact that each class is so unique, but maybe I haven't found mine. Hope I will. I meet so many cool people, but a lot are higher level. I want to get up there and group with them. This server is amazing.

![]() Shaman, enchanter, cleric, bard, necro seem like good options (in that order, imo) for you, Tzeriel. There are lots of threads on the forums about the way each of them play if you want to search around a little bit [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

![]() Oh wow. Tecmos. You're a legend, I've watched you're stream quite a bit. I'm going to look more heavily into those classes then. I've always wanted to play enchanter, shaman or necro, I've just been... Well, very intimidated by them. Watching amazing enchanters like you work has been a joy since back when I started in 2000. I consider myself a good player, but the stuff you guys do is just beyond amazing.

![]() Based on what you just wrote, it sounds like you should stick to your Paladin. They make great tanks, but they're not as one-dimensional as a Warrior (once you get a few levels and get spells ... early on all classes are one-dimensional tanks [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]). Also, the hybrid exp penalty will be going away in a few months when a post-Velious patch is released, so that should help too.
But if you want to play a Shaman or Enchanter (EDIT: or Necromancer), play one! All can solo when you can't find a group, and honestly I think you'll have no problem finding a group with either one. The server might have lots of both, but the bulk of them are off soloing, and groups need slowers (or good Necros). When I'm off soloing my shaman (with LFG off) it's not uncommon for random people to /tell me asking if I want a group, so the need exists. Just my two cents though ... the most important thing is to find something you enjoy and then play the heck out of it.
