So one day I tested it out, thinking maybe it will force me to stand up. Nope. It killed me. I took a real xp death and had to do a CR
Now that sounds classic!

"/pet guard here" is suppose to make your pet actually GUARD the area, and attack anything on sight. Not just "Pet Stand here". /pet guard here needed to be used VERY carefully!!
I played a couple of necromancers very early in my eq career. Not to particularly high level, but I did use pets. I remember reading about pet guard here in the kunark manual, but to my disappointment it didn't seem to do anything differently to /pet stand here ... I was hoping it would crump passing pathers.

Perhaps the command didn't kick in until higher levels, or the pet had a tiny aggro radius at low levels. To me it felt like either a command that had never worked, or a mechanic which had been removed before kunark dropped in UK.

Pet guard here having it attack mobs was changed either in beta or soon after release. It wasn't in the game very long.

btw, patch from 2000 03 21

https://web.archive.org/web/*/http:/...wnload/patch/*

The Feign Death spell will no longer wear off. This change had been made due to an issue that was discovered that allowed Necromancers to solo creatures while feigned and AFK. The change had some unintended effects, as we discovered that there are a few cases where someone could be legitimately feigned for a longer period. Instead of having the spell wear off, any summoned pet will automatically suicide 2 minutes after its owner feigns.
Strange how this info has been on the forum for a decade and still hasn't been changed.

Multiple non-classic mechanics have resulted in the Bone Walking mechanic becoming a thing on p99. Pets are supposed to get aggro regardless of the caster being FD, and on top of that they are supposed to die after 2 minutes of being FD.
