![]() Recall few years back there was a patch that broke merchants so you'd dupe simply by selling items on them. Ton of geniouses hurried to buy diamonds/black sapphires in EC (high value vendor items) to make the most out of the situation. Mass bans followed after the rollback.

![]() A long term friend of mine from live back in the day used to do a lot of duping. He flew under the radar. I only learned later that he had done it and he told me how it had been done.
Apparently it was a 2 man job but he'd trade all his money and items to be duped to friend at a zone line - friend zones and he used 3rd party programs to instantly crash the zone. When zone came back up his friend would have all the items and coin in the next zone and he would have been restored to his last save which had all the items back on his person. They later fixed this by forcing an immediate character save when a player transaction was completed. Iirc he used MQ2 to crash the zone - no idea how really. Allegedly there were other ways, but I'm not in the know. Thankfully here, having programs like MQ2 running is quickly detectable and punishable. On live right now, it's still a rampant problem that SoE continues to turn a blind eye to. I suspect if they instantly banned all accounts that used MQ2 the server population would drop by 80%. There is probably a smaller proportion of individuals than that using the program, but many of those who do use it have 3-6 accounts and run their little box armies. It's easy to spot when they hunt in open areas, but these days everyone is off hiding safely in instances.

![]() SoE has never had a huge crackdown on it because a majority of boxers and players all use it for auto assist and such on multiple bots. They would just lose more and more subs.

![]() Once I deleted my char after selling all its stuff on live. Then asked to have it restored having changed my mind. Got it restored by GM with everything I sold before deleting it back on it, around 400k worth of items. Petitioned though and told them because cheating is a shit way to play a game imo.
Guess that could have been abused if they saved characters sporadically, but maybe he just selected the wrong save? not sure how it works. One of my friends got banned in EQ for buying something in Thurg, running to another guy in Thurg and selling it, not sure the exact scam but you could make a hell of a lot of money from it, friend made a few million before being caught. | ||

![]() Shortly after the expansion that released beast lords (PoP? Maybe? its been years), I discovered that if you were to use illusion:scarecrow on a beast lord's pet, it would instantly crash and reset the zone, including respawn times. I used this to throw off competition that I had for certain cash mobs, as I was 5-boxing a lot of old content at the time.

![]() Act of Valor AA would also crash zones and respawn bosses.
Probably it's only useful function until the bug that allowed divine intervention to save you from its kill switch.

![]() Supposedly Yantis bribed a dev to put an NPC deep in najena that spawned under some very specific circumstances that would give you 2 plat for every 1 you gave it or something like that. That would explain how mysupersales or whatever it was took off so quickly.
A character named Sitnay was observed on Prexus at like 3 am in there running in, but walking out as if heavily encumbered. Screen shots and everything. I wonder if that was really true.
