When do Yaks start proccing? Allakhazaam says 37 - is this correct? Should I basically be going with obsidian shards and PGTs until then?

Yes, that's correct. Most of the proc levels listed there are correct, aside from the Painbringer.

I'll throw another vote out for the PGT. I sort of thought all of that Rune proc aggro was a myth, until I was in a group in lower guk and swapped out my 2 x Obsidian Shards for the Axe of the Slayers. I'm a believer now.

Go with a PGT + anything for now. Get Obsidian Shards when you can afford them, and yaks by 37 if you can. And when/if you are in the market for a 2H get an Axe of the Slayers, it doesn't proc until 30 so no rush.

I've mentioned this before in a different thread but i main tanked and held agro from 30-45 using axe of the slayers. the 2h dmg and double attacks + rune procs was enough for me to hold agro in any grp setup, didnt matter if it was bunch of casters or bunch of melees. granted i didnt usually grp with bad players that would be on the wrong target or would break mes before i told them i had agro on it

btw, to get agro on a mes target before attacking it so it doesnt jump on your enchanter, taunt, sit, taunt, sit, then attack.

Stickybuds finally has a yak so i use it and various different offhands until i can acquire a 2nd yak but the yak is the best for agro by far. 1 yak proc and your golden for the rest of that battle.

I camped my second yak and two more for a guildie. Lord is not the most crowded spot in Guk and I found it always free - even though it was outside US primetime. Just needs a group of friends, willing to invest some hours of their spare time for you. A 50 warrior can do this with cleric and another dd.

But interesting to hear that Axe of the Slayers actually can hold aggro up to level 45. I never got one of those.

I got lvl 18 Ogre warrior and I'm using PGT and OS, I LOVE IT! Very good combo. But I noticed that PGT started to scale down a bit due to dmg absorption being out damaged by mob.

But from lvl 10 till now, when I soloed and it procs dmg absorption and heals you at the same time. Imagine it procs several times. Sometimes I just hit light blue mobs just to heal myself because it procs a lot on lower lvl mob.
