server is great. if you're new, you must disregard all opinions on what pvp is

come in with no expectations and you may be pleasantly surprised.

just be a normal, pleasant person, with the general goal of enjoying your time in an interesting eq world, you'll probably enjoy it here. you'll get ganked, but be willing to calmly chat after that pvp encounter. this can sometimes grant you a free pass from a player or even result in some items being thrown your way

if you're getting griefed by someone who overpowers you and won't leave you alone after one request, just remember sometimes all it takes is a 10-15 minute /camp to lose someone's interest. they drink tears, so don't give them a reason to stay.

its a good experience. just made all the better by coming into it knowing your place and just trying to learn and having zero expectations

i think the way people get burned out, especially recently, is that they joined guilds really early (whether at lv 10 or at 50+ before meeting anyone), got sucked into full immersion mode, and learned a lot of what they know from the last 2 months or so of server drama

guilds are great, but don't be afraid to roam guildless. its ur game and time investment

How about "obviously I have been reading the forums, these and other sections of it and I keep hearing both sides of the coin, but I'd like to form my decision not based just off of them, but more opinions on the matter while raising other questions/concerns of my own that some decent folk could possibly answer". It's clear from my post I have been doing some research, I see all the "consider red today" posts, I see there's a Zerg squad contesting Velious, I see the cries and drama. Anyways... I'm no stranger to PvP, or even dealing with a Zerg that populates a majority of the server. I used to play on Rallos, Vallon, then Sullon Zek servers. I'm no stranger to PvP, I enjoy it; but I enjoy PvE as well (raiding). I understand that may be just a dream unless I join (insert X guild) here, and even then would I see loot? I really don't give a shit if I do; I just like raiding in general, and I'm no leech; I've played a Cleric since Kunark and know the class and the game pretty damn well.


I was merely just asking if this was worth my time, if it is at all possible to make my mark here if I am dedicated enough (I am), and if grouping does occur while leveling up.


I pretty much had most of my answers made clear here by the replies, that I had not seen in other posts; so I thank you guys who replied with something useful to say.

Everyone is mad that empire actually has a velious ready raid force. We griefed the other larger zerg force into submission about 3 weeks ago. Their splintered remanents are all the people crying about the health of the server even though pop is 300+ primetime every day.

We will link the vulak loots in ooc, dont worry.

And yes, to answer your question server is thriving, in 5 months u could be a pretty big factor.

Starting as a cleric might be a bit rough without gear and there won't be too many people to group with but you may find a few. Joining this server you should make up your mind right away on wheather your going to raid and join empire or if you prefer to be a more casual player and do whatever you enjoy.
Imo make a Necro and get some plat. Buy a weapon and some AC/ wis and start from there. Since you will be soloing a bit

I joined the server recently. Its still pretty easy to find groups if you are in the popular zones on the server. If you do crushbone around level 10, unrest from 15-20, mistmoore from 20-40 and then lguk/sol b 40+ you should be able to level up without much soloing.

Its not garbage i was genuinely trying to be helpful. If you find the stuff thats posted in general funny or witty, if you dont find people like pumped or eslade unbearably stupid, if you can handle the endless manbaby arguing, congrats, you pass, you should roll a toon here.
