Yeah it was just weird going from killing whites at level 2 in a few hits to not even being able to get 25 percent off a single white orc at 4, I guess I'm weaker to them in whatever way.

I knew you'd lose XP....I did not know you could fucking un-ding a level.

Jesus christ. Do you at least get locked @ max level?
lol all if this will give you the "classic" actual physical shakes while you play this game as if you were in a real fight.

Hilarious and totally legit. Kinda goes along with the last bit I mentioned about someone saving your ass. The result is something I call the Superman stupor. Be ready to feel something akin worship for your non-caped savior.

Gfay was always a good starting place in everquest, but on p99 its excellent because people tend to congregate there. You should definitely do orc hill starting at 4 and by 6-7 go into crushbone for a while. Sell the belts/pads or turn them in for exp as others have said.

Starting in the low teens you have tons of good options, its mostly personal preference. You can do the karanas, unrest, blackburrow, oasis, upper guk, ec, befallen, the list goes on. Oasis always has people in it and is centrally located with a bind point not far away. Lots of people do unrest but I never go there personally, if you die getting your corpse can be awful. Blackburrow and the karanas are never packed but you're rarely alone.

If you are new to the p99 or eq in general, stick to the well traveled areas and make some friends. Join a leveling guild, its a great way to meet new players and when you hit 46 in a few months you can find a guild that does more of what you want to do

First time playing any everquest game.

Definitely looking forward to joining a guild, things are a bit lonely at the moment.

Thanks for listing those for me I'll have a look at what looks good to me!

If you stick with this game, you should put a lot of thought into which guild you join once you hit 46 because you're throwing your lot in with a group of people in order to do high end encounters and build up the chance to get the best loots possible. (46 is the minimum level for the planes and is a common cutoff for joining many medium-high end encounters.) You should put very little thought, however, into joining a leveling guild. They come and go every 3-6 months. Just join one, it will make your life a lot easier. You can always leave by targeting yourself and typing /guildremove

You're thinking of EQ like a modern MMO. EQ is the child of DnD and the parent of WoW. Guilds on p99, from what I can tell, are less of a social circle and more of a resource pool so don't expect to join one soon. But I could be wrong, I just started myself. You can't be afraid to just throw yourself out there and socialize. People, in general, are also a LOT more helpful here than current MMOs. I think that there's a sort of underground mentality at play. You found the rabbit hole. Welcome to Wonderland.

Do I have reason? Will I be able to avoid mobs on the long ass trek to freeport?

I thought maybe each class had a quest chain, but after spending hours getting four 0.5-2 percent drop rate items for the druid dude man he's just like do it again or leave me alone. Now I feel lost and helpless without a guild or quests to follow.

Is it cool to just bolt to freeport as a level 3?
yea its totally cool. No hand holding in EQ. You're in their world now. Do what you do IRL while you play! Like the beach? head to the oasis, like the woods, stay in faydark. Want to live in the big city? head on over to FP and get those buffs!

Just try not to go link dead while crossing the oceans like this guy: https://www.project1999.com/forums/s...d.php?t=229625

That's the appeal of Everquest. In my time here, I've jumped all over the world just to see new locations. Hill Giants in Rathe? Let me head over there and see what I can do. Mistmoore has a really great drop? Let me work my way there and see if I can snag it. What's Nagafen like? Najena XP is good, let me head there.

I've literally walked from East Commons to Innothule, to Rathe, and up into the Karanas, just taking in the sights and killing any blue con or lesser that dares cross my path. I did the same thing in Kunark.

Everquest is alive and has gravity in a way that no other MMO really does, at least to me.

No. You go to 99% as a buffer though from what I remember of my time on live. As you get higher though you'll come into contact with rezzers (clerics, pallies, and necros) or at least be able to "buy" their services. Rez in EQ is more important for its XP return than it is for saving you traveling (actually you may have to be in the same zone to be eligible for res? not sure).
