![]() A few random tips from the P99 staff (or just myself):
1. EverQuest is, above all other things, a community game. Unlike other more current MMOs, the community is small, tight knit, and remembers things. Your name will carry a reputation, good or bad, which is entirely up to you. There is no name changing to escape a bad rep here (*cough* WoW). 2. Because it's a community game, making friends is what makes the game both sustainable and fun. Grinding up to 60 without friends would be either painful or impossible, perhaps both. Don't just rely on your small group of family/friends, branch out, join a guild, and help others out as much as they help you (if not more). 3. Play the race and class you *want* to play, not what is "good" or "OP." In EverQuest, unlike other MMOs, the classes are not balanced, at all. And in some cases that is on purpose. Rangers are laughed at by most other classes for being completely useless, but the people who play them swear by them, and rightfully so. So play what's fun and not what's "needed." You won't regret it. Welcome to the server!

![]() My advices? Forget about leveling via quests. Everquest is pure leveling through grinding. However, unlike Korean games, it can be quite challenging at times. Be aware that unlike modern games, Everquest won't allow all classes to solo their way up through levels. Actually, only few can do it. So make sure to at least pick a class which will match your playing style (can it solo? is it good enough for duo? will I want to only group?). It also takes a loooong time to level up when you don't know exactly how to do it. So be prepared for it, which means ask as much as you can about your class, and how it should be properly done to minimize the grinding madness.
In short, Everquest's fun lies within it's challenging frame. However, the game is much more welcoming with many veterans who now know most of the important things, therefore it will be easier than it was on Live. Well, at least until you hit the raiding scene. For me, it was fun on Live, not at all here. But being able to relive memories was a blast.

![]() Just explore the world, don't get too hung up on leveling and getting the best gear and don't be afraid to experiment and try new things. This server is so top heavy that there's a ton of nice folks available to bail you out of any tough spots such as an irretrievable corpse. You'll eventually get the hang of the game and the levels and the gear will come and you'll appreciate it all the more.
By the way, I'm extremely jealous of everyone who comes into this game never having played it before. I wish I could come into it again with fresh eyes.
