Don't knock it until you've tried it. Sure, you can go that route, but you're going to miss 80% of the game's content in the process. Plus you pick up a few nifty things along the way, did you know there's a 200 range 3 charge instant aggro clicky in Erud's Crossing that costs 6p per buy back to recharge?

Not to mention, you get the satisfaction of a weapon upgrade dozens of times every time you come across one incrementally better, rather than 2 or 3 times for the life of your character, and your old gear gets handed down to your alt army, so you're not wasting your life haggling in EC to give your alts a head start.
TIL a few random named in newbie zones that drop vendor trash are 80% of content in EQ. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] (Teasing)

But seriously, It's fun for sure, that's why I said "from a practical standpoint" in my post. I'm super casual and I've been playing since year 1 so I spend almost all my time in random zones exploring.

It really sounds like Qeynos and the Qeynos Aqueducts are one of the best places to gear out early on.
Qeynos area by far has the highest amount of quests, my guess is because it was the first area created back in the day. There are even several quests that have a good AND evil option to complete them.

Exactly! Buying something to last into my 50s and grinding up in the best xp zones just isn't what I'm playing for. Thank you for all the info on some of this low level gear I've got my work cut out for me!

I'm playing a Euridite Necromancer named Nimrots. I'm level 6, currently have been leveling in the warrens. I will start venturing off around level 12 so I can bind myself.

I'm definitely going to check out those Aviaks while searching for the Bearthooth Necklace.
Warrens is fun, there's some gear in there too. Scepter of the Forlorn is pretty neat, though will be a while before you can kill the King. Necros get some good quests in Temple of Sol Ro too.

I don't know if you got the Alligator Tooth Earrings or Limestone Rings yet from Qeynos Catacombs, but that's an extra 20hp combined that you can get at your level right now. Just be careful getting there as necros are not much liked in most places.

As a necro, you'll definitely want to look at stacking HP more than anything else, so don't feel ashamed to farm some plat and buy crafted hp jewelry (rings and bracelets) as you really can't do better until much later in the game from drops. Luckily, necros aren't as gear dependent as other classes, so aside from hp rings, save plat for spells and eventually you want to buy a Circlet of Shadow, because it no longer drops and is far superior to Circlet of Shadows.

http://wiki.project1999.com/Shralok_Pack can be farmed at 12. Light bags with weight reduction are indispensable for casters. Spawns in Kithicor, If you enter Kith from WC, follow the zoneline south to the corner then go west along the wall, there's a stationary giant spider just passed the lake that is the ph. 6m40s timer. Don't worry about undead, nothing paths over there.

If you want to make your eyes bleed, you can spend a lifetime in Qeynos Hills trying to get http://wiki.project1999.com/Pyzjn to drop a Glowing Black Stone. Doable at 16, though very frustrating.

Gnoll Embalmer, a level 16 necromancer in Lake Rathe drops http://wiki.project1999.com/Skull_of_Jhen%60Tra which might be tricky, but an adventure to get before 20.

Raw Silk is easy enough to tailor for filling out slots, though you'll have to travel to the Karanas or Everfrost to find spiders that drop spider silks. There's a couple of spiders in Qeynos Catacombs, but not many and they rarely drop silk.

For a necro, that's all I can think of until 20+ in which case you'll want to either solo or group in dungeons to get upgrades and do the sol ro quests. Kerra Isle, Solusek's Eye, Upper Guk, Mistmoore, Najena and Unrest all have necro usable loot that's attainable in that range either solo or grouping. Don't forget to keep all of the words you find if you want to experience the joys of research.

Thanks again for all of the great info. I remade as a human wizard in Qeynos and joined up with the new guild <Ways of Yore>.

They're dedicated to self found play so it works perfectly for me!

Anyone that posted here if at all interested in this style of play I'm sure would be welcome in the guild, check them out.

Thanks again,
Stormin
