Actually they had a player base of in the thousands. It was a FUN game and the community is still going. Unfortunately they lost a lot of developers and players when WoW came out. The game also had an expansion with a beta test.

I played the free trial of that game when I got my first PS2.
It just so happened that I was also playing real EQ at the time so it didn't keep my interest. Had it not been for EQ though I would have probably been into it.
