How to transfer items between toons

I assume you can't drop coin on p1999 to prevent abuse - but what are some ways to xfer platinum (solo) between characters?
Sure, you can buy some expensive gems and drop them in bags - but you lose money in the deal when you pay retail price and sell wholesale price.

I just save gems I loot and drop them

then drop transfer what you need

Getting a lift from Kunark to EC is not hard, it just may take a little bit of time unless you have a porter that is in the area. If not, you may have to consider paying them a little bit extra (which I suggest) to come fetch you from wherever you are. Also, if you get ported into WC, you want to make sure you get invis, see invis, and SOW before you port out. Otherwise, Ceel Moonraper and her druid friend will face punch you to death the instant you port into the WC zone. Not fun.
