Republican Party = Thinly veiled homophobia, racism, religious fundamentalism, jingoism, old white people, hillbillies, the ultra-wealthy, the ultra-poor, trickle-down economics, relaxed regulations on industry, isolationism, Fox News, Glenn Beck, pick-em-up trucks, decreased transparency in gov't, old white people, creationism, Bill Kristol, wildly out of control military spending, anti-intellectualism, free-reign for financial fat cats, Blackwater etc., and whatever policies ensure the continued acceleration of the class division that will define America in the 21st century if we aren't careful. Also, list prestigious centers of learning in blue states vs. red states. And whats the secret of their success? Same as Wal-Mart - they promise to charge you less.

Jailbot likes you too.

But again, I revert to my question previously; irregardless of circumstance, what right does the government have to take excessive amounts of income from one individual and starkly less from another?
You should be suspended for 3 days for this one. I don't even know where to start telling you whats wrong with it, both philosophically and grammatically.

So all men aren't creted equally? They are endowed with rights which are subject to change as soon as they earn $X+1?

Look you can defend the progressive tax system all you want but don't act like there isn't a level of disconnect between what is penned in our founding documents and the actions taken by our government.

And don't look at me to defend the red hats or the blue hats.

You mean Republicans that are trying to separate themselves from the backward social planks of the Republican platform while supporting the backward economic ones?

Well DVS I don't really know where you stand on anything. So far you've managed to hurl insults without any shred of logic or constructive thought.

So enlighten me, explain what "forward" thinking economic planks you're proposing.

I'm certainly redistributionist in where I think economic policy should be headed, given where the resources of the nation have been flowing (generally) for the last 90 years. I think one of the most important things we need to do is level the playing field in education and in health care. Children born in lower class families (the number of which continues to increase) should have as much invested in their education as the far less numerous privileged children. The health-care debate is obv complex, but few would argue that it is fine the way it is, and that the (once again, growing) lower class is not getting affordable, comprehensive medical care.

There are fewer and fewer "big winners" in the American economy, and more overworked and underpaid families decade by decade. Though the rich of the country feel they deserve their money because they worked hard for it, it is not as if they are working harder than people I work with in the restaurant industry, or any other blue-collar job. The issue of how the government spends this tax money is also important here. Have you ever looked at where exactly the tax money goes? Here, at least, Libertarians have a point. It is being mismanaged, for sure. However, that is a reason to increase transparency and aggressively reform spending, not a reason to deem government spending of any type unnecessary. In the libertarians' world, the power of those who control large swaths of capital would be EVEN MORE unchecked.

The founders of the republic, by the way, had no contemporaneous analog for the kind of wealth disparity that exists today. Let that sink in before you make claims about their intentions vis-a-vis economic regulations, tariffs, income tax etc...

Another thing, if you make more than 200,000 dollars a year, and you think you "totally deserve it", you better be doing something spectacular with your work. Otherwise you're overpaid and might want to take a look in the mirror. By the way, looking the right way, saying the right things, and knowing the right people is not spectacular. Its tragically average. But the pay is good, amirite?

I'm not anti-wealth or anything, I'm trying to get rich just like everyone else. But these people that think that they are special and deserve 10x more than others, just because they have in fact obtained it, are the worst people ever. (Trust me, I worked as a landscaper in Hinsdale, IL for a year in college, and these people think they're pretty great.) And if you elect libertarians its gonna get worse. If people make tons of cash, good for them. The country they live in has lots of problems and is gonna need that cash to solve them.

Man, I am so glad I am not this stupid. Though, I bet the world would be a prettier place if I was this stupid.
