was completely my fault, due to offensive character names.
Swish's story wound up being surprisingly relevant.

I have to admit the parallels are uncanny.

Fact of the matter is that "joke" was not one bit funny and anyone with a healthy dose of empathy would agree.

Anyone defending such humor probably has a sick brain.

The chances of Robin Williams son playing P99? I guess I didn't think it was possible. Also, where's the proof? Who knows him?

"Witney's corpse" didn't get a ban by the way - saw her in the tunnel again the next day.

I like how you sat on the fence and decided to bandwagon later in the thread [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

You're absolutely right. It's disrespectful...

to tell people what they can joke about, especially when comedians are the subject.

If anyone would have gotten a chuckle out of it, it would have been Robin. Shut up.

It's not at all proof (heck it's not even about his son), but as I mentioned in a previous thread my cousin was a paid GM at SOE. It was common knowledge there that Robin himself played EQ, as a wood elf ranger. He wasn't the only famous person either, but he's the only one I can remember.

RW was big on role play games, so it makes sense his friends / family might also be. EQ was the earliest (BEST!) 3d DnD clone, so I don't see it being all that unlikely that people who associated with RW might be eq / p99 fans.

... oh as I type this I see Loramin already posting something similar.

I think Swish's joke may be a cultural thing. It is common in the UK to use humour to pay tribute to beloved celebrities passing, especially to those who were comedians.

I'm not endorsing anything though...

I'll admit doing it was quite dark, but it wasn't intended to offend...just give people a laugh and pay tribute. Comedy and satire are huge in the UK - it's in our dna. I'm sad not everyone sees it that way. We seem to live more and more in a culture where people are just waiting to be offended by something (as well as playing on a server with a petition culture), which is why comedy/satire is even more important.

If it got you upset at the time it happened I apologize. If it got you upset only now after reading this thread then you're offended by something that's already been dealt with and "put right".

Being "offened by something that's already been resolved" is a cop out. You willing used someone's death, by whatever means, as a gag effect. It speaks more to you than it does to me.

Keep running your marathons and make believing that it somehow abolishes you from your past indescrections, you mongoiloid looney toon.

What's that name again ?
