I know my husband Spyder73 has had similar trouble with the staff regarding a certain surname name that he is attached too. Beware Norrath OP, for the night is dark and full of terrors.

Usually people did it to avoid tells, or best was when they created a barcode name with 3-5 of their pals so when you targeted them in PVP it was hard to differentiate if you had the cleric targeted, the tank, or the rogue etc. Basically barcode names only create confusion and problems, and chances are a year from now the novelty would have worn off, and the guy would have been sending in a petition to get it changed due to no one being able to send him tells. Imagine seeing that troll name WTB/WTS an item, or needing a rez then trying to contact him via a tell? TL;DR "Barcode" names are dumb. | |||
