I agree with one thing though. The (((people))) at the top of the economic hierarchy are worse than those at the bottom. I just don't see a realistic solution that doesn't result in a worse outcome

My dearest Dude,
First of all, Marx was very wrong, but being pre-Darwin, he could not have accounted for ecological overshoot. Second, the question that stands before us is not one, to my mind, of a capitalism-communism dichotomy. I ask: Are the best countries capitalist? Certainly so, my dude skarlorn, but so are the worst countries. Capitalist dynasties and the so-called Iron Law of Oligarchy are only an expression of the people's true desire for legitimate rule by a right and proper king. The trajectory of civilization invariably goes through capitalism, but its final product is monarchy, not communism. Full monarchism now! Yours truly, Royalist Swine

Sweden
Germany United States All Capitalists. These are the kinds of countries people want to actually live in. But even if we consider all powerful countries -- the closest thing to a non-capitalist country that is anywhere in the ballpark is China and Russia. I fail to see how they could be considered non-capitalist though. Because there is authoritarianism? So what -- its still private business running the show. So I don't think there is a lot of debate that capitalism is currently the best system. In the United States, there has been a lot of public policy debate historically about weather or not you magically become a communist state if your welfare state expands. But I think people are finally sick of listening to rich people ask themselves this and are willing to go more of the Germany/Sweden direction. However -- the current leadership and old fucks in charge are all about more free market. Reguardless, capitalism just means private ownership is enforced by law -- same with employment contracts and other legally binding business agreements. The majority of goods and jobs will be generated by the domestic and global market. Otherwise capitalism can be done a lot of different ways. Some integrate some socialist ideas into it like Sweden, and others try to keep the traditional family and institutions intact like Germany. They both seem to work better than letting the market do its thing like in United States especially. | ||
