Lock a turn (similar to strafe lock when bard kiting) and swim in a circle. Maxed 200 no problem on green in a shallow city pond.

Most of the skills ESPECIALLY DEFENSE, gain way too fast here. You could go a entire level tanking on EQmac and were lucky to get 1 or 2 defense points.

Depended on your STA. 100 was the magic number. Once I had 100 sta I could melee/swim forever.

I think intelligence number is a factor. My 133 int wiz swam just a little so far but it's leveling up quite fast samething with sense heading. I remember swimming on live in lake rathetear in a counter clockwise and getting 30 skillups for each lap. And yes in my experience your speed in the water makes a big difference if mobs chasing you.

On live I use to skill up my swimming by swimming in the fountain in Unrest. While I was LFG I would put on number lock and swim, going no where, and max out swimming super quickly. I have not been able to do this on p99

I always had the impression that skills left low until higher levels can be slower to get rolling. Just an impression, no testing done. My wife made it to 60+ on live, raiding with her shammy, with a defense of two. I stopped taunting for awhile[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Running through the edges of water in the swamp while leveling, seems great for swimming skill ups.

Swimming with harmony on makes it go up faster.
