Played the free week trial way back when I was kicking around EQ2...but had no appeal.
Played EQ1 from Kunark, until I found this server. Peace.

i played it for a few months, and i thought it was pretty good (this was a long time ago mind you) so i cant say what its like currently. I liked the graphics, the quests were more fun than just camping one room for hours on end, i think the game world was a lot better and more interesting than EQ's too.
Now i think about it, i cant remember why i stopped playing, but i imagine it was probably the community around wow.

played a couple hours while visiting a friend who had two machines and two accounts. Didn't see any compelling reason to switch.
Played Darkfall during beta -that was fun, but not enough to get into the game

I tried it but I didn't inhale. I did not have sex with that game, WOW.

I sadly played WoW for awhile... I can tolerate the young playerbase, it's easy to ignore people and play the game. At least the population benefited from being relatively easy to level up.
My biggest problem was with end-game players having about 1/20th the skill level of that of an EQ Raider. I joined a guild on my 80 Paladin and subsequently started organizing and leading raids for them. Fortunately the core of the guild was strong enough that our 10 man downed LK, but aside from that I can tell you trying to lead those players was like pulling teeth. People make fun of "standing in the fire" as a part of WoW mechanics and it's no joke, a large portion of those players can't seem to handle the concept of situational awareness at all. I.E. spam my 4 skill buttons and don't pay attention to fuck all else. The game had some fun raids, some fun PVP, and leveling up was relatively enjoyable. Sadly it didn't outweigh the abundance of idiocy for me.

I love how 2/3 of the posts are, "I never played the game, except when I played it for a little while."

or "I played it for half an hour and I know it sucks"
That's like saying I played EverQuest for half an hour. All I got was some lame tunic and a rusty dagger, what a shitty game...

Playing to me would be getting past the easy levels and starting to work hard at your equipment and toon. Maybe I should of phrased it 'I tried WoW but just didn't like it - am I the only person?'.

I never played it except for the brief period from early beta to 6 months ago. I had 7 lvl 80's and 3 lvl 85's when i stopped so I cant really comment too much on the gameplay.
Wow sucks...Vanguard on the other hand...oh what a game that was...wish they would make it F2P!
