Shovel we understand you're upset about your server getting shut down. We get it. We would be upset if P99 got shut down too.

But you're directing your animus at Daybreak and the people commenting in these threads when it should be directed at the people who chose to profit off THJ in blatant violation of IP. If they hadn't done that, THJ could possibly have still been online in some capacity today. Get angry at the people who ran the server, not everyone else.

People who take someone else's IP and intentionally profit off of it are not good people and don't have a "good name"

Put it another way: If THJ's work and profiting off of it had taken enough money from Daybreak such that they had to fire their dev team that's currently on EQ, leaving innocent software folks unemployed, would you think that's an okay result?

the good name of someone who uses another developers code base and creates an LLC to run a for-profit server based on stolen IP, and then does damage control by deleting negative remarks and then asks for the people he grifted into donating to the server to donate money to legal funds. got it.

2 guys put in a huge amount of work to give the EQ community a fun game they always talked about wanting to play.

They slowly got successful.

These two poor nobodies were probably as surprised as anyone about the donations. And they felt like they were doing a good thing for the community.

Then they find out they are just not able to convince their piers about it, let alone a court.

The truth is that you just see the world in a very narrow and dark way.

Well, what could have ALSO happened was they are aquired by DBG and hired 60 devs to work on the most successful EQ server in the last 20 years!

Yeah, it didn't happen because Daybreak went and protected its IP to prevent any possibility that it could be misappropriated for profit to the extent that it would damage Daybreak's use of its own IP. It's completely fair that they did this and the fact that you're making them out to be the bad guys is patently absurd since they clearly allow other servers (such as P99) to operate as long as they don't monetize Daybreak's IP. They just shut down two greedy assholes and let everyone else have their fun; seems entirely reasonable to me.

And no...Daybreak doesn't need to "acquire" THJ. Daybreak is a company and is totally within its rights to decide they don't want their IP looking a certain way. I don't want nor not want the THJ guys to be acquired by Daybreak, I don't care either way...but the fact that they didn't acquire them isn't some piece of ammo against Daybreak lol. You're grasping at straws because you're in the wrong.

In any case, these are P99 forums not THJ forums. Maybe you should go talk about this somewhere else. We here on the P99 forums don't care.
