My understanding is that you don't just become a dev by offering help, but by submitting code fixes and over time proving yourself worthy. There's a special forum where you can apply to be a dev I think.. anyways it would be nice if people like freaky/image/devnoob who were very dedicated devs were allowed to help out with red99 (so long as they had no creative control over it).

Not sure why you felt like you needed to add this portion in. Nobody has creative control over creating a classic server. The requirements are well defined, and the rules have been set since 2001.
