I did this quest probably 75+ times on live and never saw this happen (or even heard of it happen actually). So I think it was probably closer to 1% in classic.
That said, 5% is a lot better than where it is currently. Whatever you think is best - and as always, thanks for taking a look.

When I first started late 1999, my brother told me the portal at the temple place was the way to Plane of Hate. He also said I should attack the fish.
Loading.... This was definitely on Live Classic. .. I also want to say, therefore i will... that it would happen more often then not, if you killed a regular fish... shrug... the big bad one would spawn and .. do his thing. back to work now all of you

Sorry to bump an old thread, but just for those who've never seen it, here's a screen shot I grabbed in 2003 :-)
I think 1% on live is more accurate, I lost count of the number of stein runs I made over the years.

Just to add another 2cp worth (and at the risk of upsetting the Stein farmers), either I'm very lucky, or the drop rate of the fish is wrong. On live I only got the fish drop after killing 1 in maybe 5 - here at P1999 I'm getting one every time.

Thank you for looking into this. The problem for me wasn't that it spawned and destroyed me, it was that the God Fish was alive for so long. It had to have been up at least 20-25 minutes before despawning.
You guys do great work. | ||
