Considering i was in a guild that was one of 5 guilds server wide to kill Nagafen i would actually know what could or could not be done in classic EQ with Nagafen.

Nagafen can't fit through his door way.

I specifically remember the day that they changed it so Naggy could only be engaged by 52 and under. We pulled him into his doorway, I tried to stand underneath him and nuke him thinking since he was aggro, I'd get a free shot in on him. He ran treadmill style in his doorway, and upon my cast I was ousted from the zone.

He was certainly not stuck rooted in place, nor did he reset upon reaching a certain limit. He'd just spin his wheels in that doorway.
