If teams are implemented, do 2 teams instead of 3. With 3 teams, the second place team always has twice as much competition and will never catch up to the first place team.

sz ruleset, was most successful server. need 3 teams to balance. 2 teams will end the same way this server ended. 2 guild, one falls, server dead

Today i was on the toilet and I was thinking about something very profound. What if someone had the gonads to made a HYPER-Accelerated-XP ladder Pvp Server(TM) that only lasted maybe 6 months or so then wiped.

Rules:

Items(Exluding Primary/secondary slot) and coin are lootable upon death.

Classic, Kunark, and Velious would all be available within the first 8 weeks. With continents opening as bosses are killed.

The reasoning behind the wipe/inflated xp would be to promote pvp instead of poop socking. Also, the inflated XP would give a fighting chance to the more casual players who only have a few hours a week to spend on EQ but still want to "compete".

I remember seeing the 600 people on opening day of P99 red. Those people WANTED to PVP but never really got a chance to. I think they all got bored to death and quit because of the grind WELL before they even had a chance to PVP or see their character develop.

There are definitely a few hundred hardcore EQ players lurking around that want to play but won't touch this because of the XP.

I don't know if anyone else feels this way but the only reason I log on now a days is the slight chance there might be PVP. Looking at the server population lately and I don't think i'm the only one who finds the grinding pointless w/o PVP targets.

Anyways, I know "custom" servers don't last more then a week in this community but I'd figure this might work.

How do you think I feel? I just returned to EQ after months and am the lowest level on the server (built a new computer early December, never bothered to install EQ until last week). Nobody plays this server anymore and I'm wondering why I'm bothering.

There's 20-30 level 50's running around, half of them are Nihilum, then there's me running around the entirety of antonica and maybe seeing one other person the whole time.

XP is a serious problem, but I don't want an insta-50 server or anything. I want a populated classic EQ PvP server without boxing or macroquest or anything. I think I'm just dreaming.

SZ type teams, no level limit, kunark at launch (no legacy items), no recharge, guard assist working, spells like whirl not being op, no trading from blue to red....probably missed a couple things

That would get me back (and on the good team as an enchanter)

Default Solution

Release Kunark and add coin loot +1 item. No teams!

This server should just be shut down if your not going to make a bold move and do something original, otherwise its always going to struggle.

In case you didnt realize it, there is a a thirst for hardcore gameplay.

For instance, The DayZ mod for Arma II has item loot and perma death, and that mod has made Arma II the #1 game on steam right now.

People enjoy a death penalty and hardcore rule sets. Keep blue for carebears and for petes sake make the red pvp server have some meaning to PVP.

I had a few ideas to do something similar like this on a custom box... basically having seasons that last 30 days or so and then resets... would be fun imo.
