One thing I can say is, they are pretty close knit. But I went to a few boy scout events at some Mormon churchs and they seemed like really nice people. Very family oriented and smart about stocking food lol.

I could see myself being a Mormon. If they paid me enough. =P
So you'd be a Mormon in name only. Lol you realize they have a whole whack of batshit insane beliefs they would expect you to conform to right

Mormons are scum

I will agree, Joseph smith is a fraud. But you got to admit, they know how to stock food! And they would give me a lot of money! I like money, then I can buy me some candy, or meth. Whichever is cheapest. Allah Akbar.

I hate RnF but I see a moment here where I can shed some light.

There are 2 dimensions of faith and belief. They are:

Gnostic vs Agnostic

&

Theistic and Atheistic

Theism implies a belief in a God. Atheism implies in a disbelief in God.

Gnosticism claims that there is evidence supporting existence/non-existence. Agnosticism claims that there is no evidence that he/she/it exists.

So when comparing 'Agnostic' to 'Atheism' realize that you are in fact incorrect and are comparing apples to aliens.

So, how can we define these types?

Gnostic Theist - Believes God exists and that there is evidence to back it up. You would probably call these people Christians, Muslims, Jews, what have you. They have their 'holy book' that is 'proof' that he exists. Get it?

Agnostic Theist - Believes that God exists but that there is no proof. This means they can't be Christians or Muslims or Jews, else they'd have to shy away from their texts. This is often referred to as Deism, Paganism, etc. Many former girlfriends would call this 'being spiritual' - it's also similar to believing in santa claus.

Agnostic Atheist - Believes that God does not exist nor does he care if he exists. This person doesn't see any proof that he exists one way or another, and has decided that he must not be there. This is what is called being logical - I see no proof of existence, therefore there must be proof. Most people would call this classification 'agnostic'.

Gnostic Atheist - These are the assholes that want to tell you why you're wrong. They believe God is a sham and that there is proof that he doesn't exist -i.e. famine, world wars, child molesters, and the universe being infinite, etc. It's possible to be a gnostic atheist and not be an asshole to everyone around you at all times that is even slightly religious, but it's pretty hard. We'd refer to these are 'militant atheists'. Check our reddit's /r/atheism and this is what you'll find.

I really hope this cleared up everyone's confusion.

Yea this is correct, and I'm well aware of this whole criticism of agnosticism. The reason I put agnostic instead of atheist is simply because:

1. Agnosticism admits the insufficiency of explanation found in belief systems (Atheism, theism). It is the acknowledgement of unknowable truth.

2. If there's a word for the attitude "I'm atheist, but I acknowledge the factual insufficiency and inherent unknowableness of atheism", well that's me.

3. That makes me an agnostic atheist.

4. I didn't want this to turn into a discussion

I don't have anything against theists, many of my best friends have been religious people and of all the best people I've actually met, the majority were christian.

This basically

I still reserve the right to bash cultlike scam religions with prophets known for their tall tales.

You'd be Agnostic Atheist, or what we would call 'agnostic'. Since you 'don't know', that certainly doesn't mean you think God exists (theist), and you don't know (no proof) so you'd definitely be agnostic.

Usually you would expect to end up on the negative in a case of 'not knowing'. Faith (theism) is an assertion that you do know.
